Our work assesses Squamish Nation lands and creates development plans that meet the Nation’s social, environmental, cultural, economic, and political goals. Nch’ḵay̓ was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, Squamish Nation. Our mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation, and allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

This Senior Development Manager is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Head Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. Scope of the Position
The Senior Development Manager will lead the execution of multiple planning and development projects, including large scale master planned communities, site visioning, project approvals and entitlements, stakeholder and community engagement. Reporting to the Director of Real Estate, Planning & Development, the Senior Development Manager will support the facilitation of and oversee the advancement and reporting of the project designs, approvals, and delivery, including financial viability of development projects.
Duties, Responsibilities, Authority and Accountabilities
Development & Planning:
- Work closely with the Real Estate Senior Leadership Team to advance the redevelopment planning of Nation lands, both on and off reserve.
- Procure and project management in multidisciplinary consultant teams to conduct and advance site visioning, conceptual and schematic design, oversee project budgeting, and provide consultant direction.
- In collaboration with Nch’ḵay̓’s Communications and Community Development teams, establish and manage collaborative community strategies to advance project design and visioning.
- Support required land designations / rezonings and permitting – attend and support related community events, as necessary.
- Collaborate with Nch’ḵay̓ and Squamish Nation Communications to inform and support the creation of a community engagement strategy and preparation of materials.
- In collaboration with Nch’ḵay̓’s Finance team, support the preparation of development proformas on an ongoing basis and at various stages throughout a project’s lifecycle process to ensure the viability of projects.
- Prepare project status reports for Nch’ḵay̓ Senior / Executive Leadership teams and Board of Directors summarizing key project metrics (ie. budget, scope, schedule, key risks / liabilities) identifying approvals / directions needed.
- Coordinate and manage internal team members.
- Train new real estate development staff as needed.
- Support, oversee and or prepare Squamish Nation Council Briefing Notes and Resolutions to support decision making.
- Maintain knowledge of the local market (residential and commercial) and overall economic environment.
Other
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and policies – attend events as appropriate and share / exchange knowledge within Nch’ḵay̓’s Real Estate team.
- Perform other duties as required.

Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor
- Reports to Director, Real Estate, Planning and Development
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum seven years of demonstrated experience in managing large-scale mixed-use real estate development, project visioning and site design, complex stakeholder management and community engagement, and related industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and projects of similar scope, including experience in early-stage site planning and complex development processes.
- Excellent stakeholder and communications skills, demonstrating tact and understanding of differing interests and objectives.
- A post-secondary degree; preferably in real estate, business administration, finance, architecture or urban planning.
- Familiarity with zoning regulations and land use planning, with specific experience in navigating the complexities of large, phased development projects.
- Working knowledge and understanding of real estate development processes, from acquisition to delivery, with a focus on early-stage site development and project management.
- Experience in designing and building across multiple asset classes; residential, office, retail, industrial, mixed uses etc.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong team player with solid communication skills.
- High levels of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work independently within established guidelines and procedures and as a member of a team.
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong multi-tasking and organization skills.
- Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with Nch’ḵay̓ team members, Squamish Nation staff, consultants, external government entities and industry businesses
- Strong people skills and the ability to interact with colleagues and senior management.
- Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Required a valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience working with First Nations is an asset.
