Background & Purpose of the Job
We are looking for a Seasonal General Labourer at our Manufacturing factory in Simcoe, Ontario. Our factory produces brand names such as Breyers, Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, Klondike, and Popsicle!! The Seasonal General Labour position works during the factory’s peak production season and can expect to work 6 months out of the calendar year ( approximately early April to the end of Aug). The general objective of the General Labour position is to stage and supply packaging and dry good ingredients to the production floor to ensure that production requirements are met.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
- Reports to their scheduled work centre at the scheduled shift start time.
- Ensures the safe working, good housekeeping and good manufacturing practices are observed, in meeting daily production and quality expectations.
- Ensures that the proper quantity of materials and or ingredients are brought down from the supply hall to the production floor to meet daily production requirements.
- Reports safety hazards or environmental risks immediately to supervisor.
- Performs the job duties in a manner that is safe for yourself and others around you, including compliance with safety and ergonomic practices.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Ability to work various 8 hours, weekday shifts as well as weekend shift comprising of Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12 hr shifts
- Ability to learn all functions of assigned production lines in a quick fashion, as dictated by the production rate of the specific line.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Previous experience in a production environment and/or food production or handling is preferred.
- Education - High School Diploma or GED equivalent
