About the role

ASaulteau SafetySecurity Shift Supervisoris responsible for maintaining the efficiency, professionalism, and overall performance of security officers and OFA 3 medics across all sites that are not designated as self-contained and policed. This includes ensuring that site knowledge is consistently maintained and that officers receive ongoing evaluation, mentoring, training, and clear communication within a24/7 operational environment.

The Shift Supervisor works closely with theOperations Managerto ensure site-specific requirements are upheld, operational adjustments or changes are implemented promptly, and new site start-ups are properly supervised. The role also requires regular liaison, coordination, and communication to maintain adequate site coverage and ensure effective incident and emergency response. Additionally, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all Security Professionals consistently adhere toSaulteau SafetySecurity's core values, vision, and mission.

**Location:**Site C - Fort St John

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Capable of working within a diverse environment and respect others on the team
  • Capable of using a computer to write reports and send emails
  • The ability to investigate incidents thoroughly and with a sense of urgency and report back to clients and managers
  • Maintain a positive mental attitude
  • Maintaining Multi-tasking, organizing, problem solving, and prioritizing tasks
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, days or nights as required. Schedule is 14 days on / 14 days off

Job Duties

Emergency Response / Emergency Preparedness

  • Understand all Emergency protocols and maintain an up to date Site C emergency contact list
  • Ability to lead the team in Emergency situations in a firm, confident manner
  • Respond and organize in a timely manner
  • Provide direction when call upon
  • Know the SOPs, Post orders and contact information

Security

  • Monitor the gates and staff for any evidence of un-authorized access, be prepared to follow up and investigate any Access control ID denials or problems and issues regarding orientations
  • Investigate harassment complaints by either guards or contractors
  • Manage and vet all reports from officers up to management.
  • Contractor site safety visits/ Ensure contractors and in compliance with PPE regulations for work area
  • Enforce the Site C absolutes.
  • Provide recommendations to target harden any weaknesses

Safety

  • Knowledge of all Health and Safety regulations and rules on site.
  • Be compliant with all BC Hydro Safety protocols
  • Have the Site C Safety Officers contact information on hand and know where to locate it
  • Be familiar with Worksafe BC regulations
  • Ensure Worksafe BC reports are filed if there are any accidents on site
  • Read and understand the SS&S HSE binder. Ensure the knowledge is shared daily.
  • Ensure all toolbox meetings are complete, signed off and turned into the client
  • Participate in Safety meetings
  • Report immediately any protest activity

Environmental

  • Be familiar and compliant with BC Hydro Environmental Plan
  • Ensure all spills are cleaned up immediately and the follow up report filed with BC Hydro, in a timely manner
  • Report when a spill is discovered whether it was our fault or not
  • Have the Site C Environmental Officers contact information on hand and know where to locate it
  • Report any wildlife sightings to the BC Hydro Safety Officer

Shift Supervisor Duties

  • Perform regularly scheduled site duties as required.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good condition including trucks, radios, and cameras
  • Establish a professional working relationship with the client to coordinate meetings, report security breaches, and fulfill reporting requirements.
  • Assess officer performance and initiate corrective/training action or the more serious issuance of a Corrective Action Report and it's forwarding to the Branch or Operations Manager.
  • Mentor officers on site/duty protocols and conduct, deportment, reporting procedures, company policy/procedures and corporate Mission Statement and Values.
  • Evaluate officers who show potential for advancement, identify strengths, weaknesses and initiate improvement and mentoring activities
  • Ensure that all SS&S officers are compliant with the Solicitor General Department's licensing regulations.
  • Be present and ready for duty at least 15 minutes prior to shift commencement to receive pre-shift briefing from outgoing officer.
  • Review e-mails and reports filed previously to shift commencement, in addition to confirming Tasking assignments/requests and planning the shift duties accordingly.
  • Maintain flexibility and availability for various shift timings and weekend/holiday assignments in a 24/7 environment.
  • Submit daily Shift Summaries in a concise, yet detailed, time specific format.
  • Submit Operations Reports, Incident Reports, Investigation Reports, QAA's, Corrective Action Reports or any other reports as required in a highly timely manner and in a professional and precise, detailed format.
  • Supervisors are expected to present themselves as deportment role models to site personnel, clients and SS&S management and staff.
  • Performs other duties and special projects assigned by the Account Manager or client as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School or equivalent;
  • Successful completion of the Basic Security Training course
  • Any Management and Supervisory education or experience
  • 1 year of demonstrated industry experience preferred
  • 1 year of previous supervisory experience in a related discipline
  • Completion of BST and possession of a Valid BC Security License is required -**OFA 3,**Bear aware training and the CSTS certificates
  • Must possess an excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of any additional languages is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions may vary. Majority of the time is spent walking and standing outdoors and conducting safety assessments of all work areas
  • Officers may need to wear site Personal Protective Equipment (steel toe boots, high visibility vests, hard hats and cleats while on duty
