Lead Rental Equipment Technician
This role pays: $28-31$ per hour
Multisite location: Greater Toronto Area
Position Overview
The Lead Rental Technician is the senior technical authority for large equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and customer readiness. This mobile lead role combines advanced mechanical repair, Tool rental associate training, Mobile Service Technician coordination, and fleet support.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Expert: Diagnose, inspect and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems. Preventative Maintenance: Complete safety campaigns, and PDI new and existing equipment. Downtime Reduction: Assess down tools, order parts, complete repairs, and update leadership on critical timelines. Asset Tracking: Maintain GPS and track asset moves between locations and job sites. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate drivers log, inspections, and provincial transportation compliance.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
Store Enablement: Train and support rental associates and mobile service technicians on Large Equipment procedures and routine maintenance standards. Customer Support: Act as the escalation contact and deliver job-site support within 24 hours.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Licensing: Valid driver’s license, clean record, and tandem-axle towing experience. Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs. Able to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides. Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic apps. Tools: Must provide standard hand/trade tools.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Physical: Lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, crawl, and climb onto equipment as needed. Environment: Work outdoors in Canadian weather with exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, and grease. Location: Live within 25 km of the target location or be willing to commute.
The pay range for this position is between $19.90 - $21.90
