What you’ll be doing

The Senior Marketing Manager, Brand Communications is responsible for developing and executing integrated, brand-focused marketing communication strategies and plans. This role collaborates closely with partners across the bank to lead the creation of communications for a range of brand-building initiatives, while also supporting other key functions within the broader CIBC brand team.

Reporting to the Director, Brand Governance and Retail Governance, the Senior Manager is a strong brand marketer and communicator who will work closely with partners across various lines of business, functions, agencies, and vendors on brand-focused communications and campaigns that drive our brand and business forward.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Marketing Communications Strategy and Delivery – Strong hands-on experience in the development and delivery of integrated campaigns (email and other online channels) from brief development through to go-to-market. You thrive on driving business results through strong strategic insight, client focus, and executional excellence. Proven experience in managing digital communications processes and strategies for omnichannel campaigns.
  • Project Management – Demonstrated impeccable project management skills, with a high degree of organization and attention to detail. Extensive experience and comfort using project management software to coordinate complex initiatives. Proven ability to manage and drive projects forward in ambiguous situations, often without a predefined roadmap. Comfortable navigating unfamiliar subject areas by proactively seeking out internal experts, gathering insights, and integrating their perspectives into actionable recommendations.
  • Email Expertise – Brings expertise in developing effective email communications for existing clients, with a proven ability to lead end-to-end campaign creation by collaborating cross-functionally with external agencies and internal development teams.
  • Relationship Building – Ability to inspire and influence across a matrixed organization to gain alignment and support on recommended marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Leadership – Well-developed leadership, management, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to excite and lead others in a highly collaborative environment. The ability to “influence without authority” will be a finely honed skill you use regularly. You’ll be a positive reflection on the Brand team and larger Marketing function when interacting with partners – demonstrating your willingness to learn, support the business, and balance established best practices with what is right for our brand and clients.
  • CASL Knowledge – Knowledge of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the ability to ensure campaign compliance.
  • AI – Interest in and experience using AI tools and technologies is considered an asset.
