As a key member of our Project Management Office (PMO), you will lead the delivery of complex, large-scale initiatives that span multiple ministries, agencies, and partner organizations. In this role, you'll drive projects that modernize financial management processes and systems, helping shape the future of financial operations across government.
You will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing enterprise-wide initiatives, including the delivery of key accounting standards and other strategic priorities. By leading cross-functional teams, you'll help enhance the Financial Management Framework and guide business transformation through thoughtful analysis of unique and complex scenarios affecting financial policies, systems, and processes.
To succeed in this role, you bring proven experience managing large, multi-stakeholder projects, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills. You have a demonstrated ability to conduct business analysis, tackle complex problems, and identify practical solutions. About the job
In this role, you will:
- Lead cross functional teams in implementing enterprise-wide accounting projects, including the implementation of new Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards.
- Collaborate with technical leads and stakeholders to develop clear, actionable project plans, and ensure deadlines and objectives are achieved.
- Prepare complex materials (briefing notes, reports, communications) for senior management.
- Apply business process re-engineering concepts to support business transformation and improvements
- Facilitate consultations to define linkages between financial management systems and business practices across the Ontario Public Service
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge You have the ability to:
- demonstrate thorough knowledge of financial controllership and management principles and practices, including revenue and expenditure management, financial reporting, governance, accountability and internal control frameworks.
- demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of large, complex, enterprise-wide integrated financial management systems, current trends, financial information system functionalities, capabilities, and related business processes
- gain an understanding OPS business and financial policies, operations, processes and controls
Leadership and project management skills
You have:
- knowledge of project management methodologies (eg. waterfall, agile, hybrid) across all project phases
- experience developing charters, integrated project plans, schedules, and managing budgets, scope, timelines, resources, and vendor relationships.
- ability to manage project risks, action items, issues and ensure controls are in place for project success.
- ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time
Analytical, research and evaluation skills
You have the ability to:
- evaluate complex financial information, identify innovative solutions and resolve complex issues
- understand government decision-making processes and accounting practices
- assess the impact of legislation, policy and the information management and business solutions on program/service delivery.
- demonstrate quantitative and qualitative analysis, risk assessment and management skills.
- interpret and apply statistical and analytical techniques.
Communication, consultation and relationship management skills
You have the ability to:
- lead the development of high-quality communication materials (briefing notes, presentations, reports) and deliver compelling messages to influence senior management, clients and stakeholders.
- build relationships and alignment, and drive action through clear communication, collaboration, and negotiation.
- foster innovation, adaptability, and teamwork to accelerate results.
- navigate complex dynamics with political acuity to secure buy-in and manage conflict
