We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to carry out a variety of carpentry and maintenance tasks, ensuring Yukon government facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role involves performing repairs, renovations, and periodic preventative maintenance inspections in the Northern Region buildings. We are looking for a carpenter to perform a wide variety of carpentry and related maintenance functions in accordance with established standards so that Yukon government facilities remain operational and safe.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Red Seal journeyperson carpenter’s certificate (to be provided upon request);
- Experience in the carpentry trade repairing, renovating and maintaining buildings;
- Experience with safety practices and procedures in a workplace setting.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include:
- Experience performing preventative maintenance inspections;
- Strong client service skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Experience using Microsoft computer applications (i.e., Word, Outlook).
Conditions of Employment
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:
- class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
- red seal journeyman's carpentry certificate security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check
Job Requirements
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:
- Capable of lifting up to 22 kg
- Travel throughout the territory Use of personal protective equipment

This job is based in the community ofDawson Cityin the****Yukon.Working in Dawson City and various Northern Regions in the Yukon offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully within a remote northern community and the chance to work in a dynamic environment that supports essential government services.
This position supports the Northern Region and at times will involve travel.
