Responsibilities
The International Learning Coordinator acts as a resource and first point of contact for students interested in participating in international learning opportunities, as well as liaising directly with international partners. The role administers the application, selection, registration and orientation of outgoing and incoming students participating in a variety of international learning programs (e.g. exchanges, study abroad, internships, research). The International Learning Coordinator provides in depth knowledge and expertise in the areas of student mobility, risk management, post-international experience support, and intercultural competencies. The International Learning Coordinator must liaise and collaborate with the campus community and international partners to ensure smooth delivery of programs and services in support of growth as outlined in the strategic plan.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in International Development, Education, or related field in Social Sciences
- Master's Degree in International Development, Education, or related field in Social Sciences preferred
Experience:
- 3 years of related experience working with students and international programs
- Previous international work, study, volunteer or cross-cultural experience
- Ability to speak, read and write in a second language
- Previous experience in a University environment working with students
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of post-secondary programs, protocols and processes, particularly as they relate to admissions, course credit transfer and student registration in an international context
- Highly developed cross cultural knowledge and understanding of intercultural considerations and cultural adjustment process. Proven ability to assess issues promptly, intervene and problem solve to support a positive student experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering risk management, pre-departure and re entry programming, presentations and training sessions
- Intermediate understanding of immigration procedures for incoming and outgoing students
- Ability to effectively manage social media platforms, communication and engagement for student populations
- Demonstrated strong customer service orientation to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Proven strong ability to assess the needs and expectations of a diverse clientele, advise students, make referrals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strict and conflicting deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong relationship management, influencing and collaboration skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to respond effectively to high stress, crisis or emergency situations dealing with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to manage volunteers and implement training programs
- Proven ability to evaluate programs and implement necessary changes
- Intermediate level of experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web design software such as Cascade, Database and CRM experience (PeopleSoft and Symplicy/Horizons preferred)
