What You’ll Be Doing
As the Consultant, OTC Derivatives, Regulatory Operations, you will be joining the OTC Derivatives team within Capital Markets and Wealth Management Operations. You will provide leadership and oversight on the operational controls surrounding Capital Markets Regulatory Trade reporting. You will participate in control executions and project activities with emphasis on defining new required controls to ensure compliance with multiple regulatory jurisdictions. You will work with stakeholders to develop a product vision that satisfies requirements. You will present to business partners and executives on the quality of our regulatory performance. You will apply advanced analytical skills to analyze data from multiple external and internal data sources to identify potential gaps in reporting. You are confident, thorough and have the ability to use good judgment when making decisions involving a high degree of attention to detail.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
Kindly note this is a 6 months contract position.
How You’ll Succeed
- Subject Matter Expert - strong knowledge of data systems, operational processes and regulatory trade reporting requirements, including but not limited to SEC SBSD reporting, CFTC (Part 20, 23,43,45) and Canada (CIRO 2800-C, CSA). Create standards for capturing control deficiencies that quantify impact, create paths for escalation, and track until full resolution.
- Extensive OTC Derivative Products Knowledge/Experience - Working knowledge of the structure of derivatives transactions from both a theoretical and practical viewpoint as well as the basic finance principles that underlie them. Possess a University Masters or Undergraduate degree in economics or business with 3-5 years of business related experience.
- Reconciliations – 2+ years of reconciliation experience preferably working with Capital markets derivatives data, or experience reconciling trade economics and valuations for the purposes of regulatory reporting
- Analytical Skills - 2+ years background in analytics leveraging state-of-the-art tools. Ability to use effective communication skills necessary to interpret and convey data that is often very technical.
- Leadership and Training – Provide leadership and mentoring to analysts. Examine the impact of new regulatory obligations against existing workforce and technology designs. Develop and deploy formal training packages when rolling out new controls.
- Communication & Collaboration – You have effective communication skills required to convey complex messages to business partners and executives. Understand that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one.
