We are currently seeking a Cellar Person to join our Grimsby Operations Team on a contract full time until December 2026.
The Cellar Person is responsible for working with other Cellar personnel and Operations staff to safely and efficiently execute cellar operations under the direction of the Cellar Supervisor and/or Winemaking. The term of this contract extends to January 2027 and may be extended based on organizational needs.
The Teammates Responsibilities -
- Follow safe work procedures and practices.
- Report all unsafe working conditions / hazards to their reporting Manager
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping, cleanliness and sanitation throughout the cellars. Cleans work area with a routine schedule and as needed
- Transfer juice and wine volumes using pumps and hoses
- Operate a variety of cellar equipment such as crossflows, centrifuge, and RO to process, clarify and filter juice and wine
- Make material additions to juice and wine
- Ensure that wine is bottle-ready in a timely manner
- Operate equipment to crush and ferment the grapes
- Observe gauges and monitors to verify specified processing conditions and make adjustments to process variables such as ingredient inputs, flow rates and temperature settings as specified on work tickets
- Follow the bulk receiving guidelines in a timely and efficient manner
- Follow written procedures and policies and report any deviation immediately to the Cellar Supervisor and/or Winemaker
- Count inventory on materials and bulk wine
- Record and report any upset conditions to the Cellar Supervisor and/or Winemaker
- Consistently provides and strives for excellent internal and external Customer Service
The skills, knowledge and experiences this teammate will bring -
- Completion of Secondary School (Gr. 12)
- 3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Wine and or beverage manufacturing experience an asset
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to multi task on a regular basis
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Work Environment
- Strong physical demands - ability to lift up to 22 kg on a regular basis, standing, climbing, bending and walking within a cellar environment
- Shift work required rotating days, afternoons, and nightshift and some company holidays
- Attention to order processing procedures for the different trade channels
- Cold, wet, hot, and outdoor work
- Substantial attention to detail while processing WIS tickets
The hourly rate for this role is dependent on prior industry experience.
