Senior Analytics Engineer Who You’ll Be Joining: The Business Intelligence team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving our analytics infrastructure. As a Senior Analytics Engineer with extensive data engineering experience, you will build and support reliable data pipelines and curated datasets, ensuring high data quality and consistency across our lakehouse platform. You will develop and manage the silver and gold layers in dbt, delivering accessible and accurate data for business and analytical needs. In this role, you will take an active part in shaping and enforcing data standards and data contracts, collaborating with domain engineering and business teams to define requirements and deliver solutions that support organizational objectives. You will oversee production health, ensuring data meets defined standards for quality, usability, freshness and availability, and contribute to strong engineering practices and ongoing process improvements across all data initiatives.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient ELT/ETL pipelines and dbt models for both batch and real-time ingestion and transformation.
- Implement data extraction and processing solutions to support analytics and operational use cases.
- Integrate diverse data sources, including IoT device data, third party APIs, and internal systems, into centralized data repositories.
- Develop and maintain data warehousing solutions, own the silver and gold layers in dbt, and ensure data is well-structured, documented, and available for downstream analytics.
- Apply dbt project best practices, including model structure, dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas), testing, and documentation.
- Publish curated and certified datasets, such as conformed dimensions and core metrics that are consistent across teams.
- Monitor and optimize data workflows and infrastructure to ensure high performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging for data pipelines to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Implement data quality checks, validation, and cleansing procedures, including dbt tests, to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Support production operations for critical data flows by contributing to incident response, runbook maintenance, and root cause analysis, with defined SLOs for data freshness, availability, and quality.
- Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and other engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and provide guidance on data engineering best practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, architectures, models, and processes.
- Share knowledge and best practices with the team and contribute to the growth and development of the data engineering community within the organization.
- Contribute to the development of pipelines that process high-volume IoT data streams with low latency.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
- Hands-on experience building modular, tested dbt models and maintaining dimensional data models (star/snowflake schemas).
- Strong experience in data modeling, schema design, and optimization for data warehousing and data lake solutions.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining data pipelines using Python, SQL, and tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, Apache Kafka, and Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (GCP preferred), including BigQuery, Bigtable, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
- Familiarity with SQL-based operational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of working in cross-functional teams and driving alignment between technical and business goals.
- Familiarity with version control (Github), CI/CD practices, and modular development workflows.

- A 30-minute phone call with a member of Talent Acquisition
- A 60 minute call with the Director of Business Intelligence focused on behavioural, situational and technical fit questions
- A 90 minute virtual interview with a cross-functional group of engineers - this will be technical interview where you will be presented with a case study to solve a real life problem. This interview will test your design and coding skills necessary to succeed in this position.
- The final interview will be a 45 minute interview with leadership.
