Job Description
The client is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer responsible for designing, testing, configuring, and commissioning electrical protection systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multi-function protection relays, relay setting files, power system protection schemes, and commissioning activities. The engineer will analyze customer requirements, protection studies, schematics, logic diagrams, and wiring drawings to develop and validate protection solutions. Responsibilities include creating relay test procedures, performing secondary injection testing, programming GE Multilin relays, configuring IEC 61850 communications, and supporting factory and site commissioning activities. The role requires strong knowledge of power system protection principles including distance protection, line differential, transformer differential, bus, feeder, generator, and motor protection. The candidate will also provide technical support, peer reviews, and mentorship while collaborating with internal teams and customers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field. 3–5+ years of experience in protection relay testing, configuration, and commissioning. Strong experience with GE Multilin UR family relays and relay setting file creation. Knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, and substation automation. Experience with FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and customer support.
