Are you a hard-working, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in a job well done? Our Facilities Management Department is searching for Building Service Workers to assist with custodial and minor repair tasks to keep our recreation facilities pristine and well-maintained for our patrons. Typical duties in this role include sweeping, polishing, waxing, vacuuming and washing floors, cleaning and maintaining washrooms and change rooms, ensuring the glass, mirrors and tiles are sparkling clean. You may also drive a vehicle on occasion to pick up mail, supplies, etc. as required. Building Service Workers also perform minor repair tasks on the building and equipment, and may assist in setting up furniture for scheduled events at the facility. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include up to high school graduation, preferably supplemented by some experience in janitorial work and minor maintenance of building and equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. We are searching for candidates who have the ability to complete light manual work, complete tasks with minimal supervision and interact courteously with the public using the facilities, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. The candidate must be available for a variety of shifts that cover up to 24 hours of the day including overnight shifts, weekend shifts and holidays. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
Pay Rate: $29.25 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: Christine Sinclair Community Centre and Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts will vary from Monday to Sunday from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM; and 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
