**Title:**IT Director
**Department:**Information Technology
**Reports To:**VP of Systems
Job Summary:
Chapman’s Ice Cream is looking for a highly skilled, hands-on IT Director to lead and continue to grow the company’s technology landscape.
This role mixes leadership with direct technical involvement. Your challenge is to lead daily IT operations, ensuring that our mission-critical systems run securely, efficiently, and in alignment with our fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will show that they are both a strategic thinker and a capable IT technician, as comfortable designing long-term IT roadmaps as they are guiding the team in troubleshoot complex issues where necessary.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and execute the long-term IT strategy to support business objectives across multiple business areas
- Lead IT projects, including systems enhancements, infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, and system integrations
- Oversee, maintain, and optimize systems including:
– Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
– Microsoft SQL Server environments
– Windows Server infrastructure
– Networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, wireless networks, VPN etc.) - Evaluate new technologies and recommend investments that improve operational efficiency, security, and system resilience
- Serve as an escalation point for the team and complex technical issues requiring advanced troubleshooting
- Ensure high availability and performance of mission critical systems
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal policies
- Manage access controls, data governance, and disaster-recovery planning
- Lead, mentor, and continue the development of a high-performing IT team
- Build strong vendor relationships and manage contracts for hardware, software, and service providers
- Oversee system software and technology implementations, upgrades, and integrations with minimal disruption to operations
- Maintain detailed documentation for systems architecture, configurations, and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned and assist the VP of Systems as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- University Degree or diploma in a related field and 10+ years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree (Masters) in a related field plus 10 years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong, hands-on background with:
– ERP and WMS platforms
– SQL Server administration, optimization, and reporting
– Windows Server and Active Directory
– Networking (switching, routing, VPN, wireless networks)
– Virtualization technologies (Hyper V)
– Backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery systems - Experience coding in SQL and Visual Studio will be an advantage
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, and 24/7 operational environments is a strong asset
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, based in our Chapman’s office in Markdale, Ontario.

**Compensation:**At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.
Salary Range:$90,000 to $110,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
In addition to base salary, employees will be eligible for:
- Regular wage reviews as part of a comprehensive total rewards package
- Retirement savings program, including a company-matching pension plan to support long-term financial planning
- Comprehensive extended health, dental, life, and disability benefits
- Mental health support as part of the benefits program
