The Driver adds value to our customers by being responsible for the friendly and timely delivery of customer orders by driving and unloading customer orders, ensuring accurate delivery records, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure all duties and responsibilities are completed as per Next’s Standard Operating Procedures Truck Loading & Unloading: Confirm trucks are loaded and secured in a way that meets safety and delivery requirements. Safely unload products in assigned locations and ensure proper handling to prevent damage to product, customer locations, and personal injury Timely Deliveries: Ensure timely delivery of customer orders to job sites according to delivery schedule Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by positively communicating with customers, other drivers, and dispatch, and addressing any delivery-related issues. Proactively anticipate challenges and ask questions if drop-off information is unclear or problems arise Vehicle & Equipment Operation: Conduct MTO required vehicle checks and logs, follow traffic laws, and safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and hand trucks as required for the position. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and safety procedures and ensuring issues are reported to other drivers and the next shift Other Duties as Assigned: As a member of the team, there may be other tasks assigned that aren’t listed above (e.g. housekeeping, inventory put away, loading customer vehicles, etc.)
Recommended Qualifications
Knowledge/ Skill/ Ability Requirements: Basic math functions Strong English verbal and written communication skills Ability to drive in varied weather conditions Knowledge of local area and road networks Ability to work well in a team environment and stay calm in stressful situations.
Experience & Education
High School or equivalent Minimum 3 years as a commercial, straight truck, or box truck driver Valid Drivers License – with a clean driving record, verified drivers abstract, and CVOR Previous warehouse and logistics experience an asset Construction/job site experience an asset MHE Certification required or the ability to obtain within three months of employment. On-site training will be provided if required by the position
Physical Demands/ Working Conditions
Position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds without assistance. This position involves driving for extended periods and working in various weather conditions. Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings before the availability of reliable public transit Position requires physical ability to move in, out, and under trucks
