The Acute Care team in Cold Lake has an opportunity to join their impactful team in the 24 active inpatient bed unit. This is a rural hospital where you will be working to the full scope of your practice providing nursing services for urgent medical conditions, post-surgical, pediatric maternity, the Stroke Centre, etc. You will work within a multidisciplinary setup, where evidence-based practices are valued. The emphasis on patient and family-focused care ensures a holistic approach to healthcare delivery.
The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role, will utilize assessment skills to make decisions about patient care. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as RNs assess, coordinate and participate in total nursing care for patients and supervise in accordance with CRNA nursing practice standards. The opportunity to work to the full scope of an RN while having support for career growth is invaluable as you will be trained for all areas of the facility.

Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Two years of bedside nursing in the last five years, or a recently graduated in the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideally you will have a minimum of 1-2 years in medical/surgical or emergency department as registered nurse. Labor and delivery experience is an asset as is completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). If you have worked in a rural hospital setting, please make this clear on your resume.
