**Position title:**Research Associate
**P.I. or immediate supervisor:**Dr. Carly Ziter

##Job description

Reporting to Carly Ziter and working in collaboration with members of the Ziter Urban Landscape Ecology lab, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out research and administrative tasks related to urban ecology. Key research tasks include data analysis, writing scientific manuscripts and reports, and knowledge translation to project partners in both English and French.

##Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to

  • Lead research tasks including literature review and synthesis, data coordination, quantitative analysis
  • Administrative tasks relating to organization and storage of lab data and metadata
  • Mentorship and support for junior researchers
  • Report progress to supervisors monthly
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team projects
  • Liaise with project partners (and initiate new partnerships) to mobilize research results
  • Other research tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator.

##Job qualifications/skills required

  • PhD in urban ecology
  • Strong spoken and written English, intermediate spoken and written French (and a desire to improve)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience with scientific literature review and synthesis
  • A strong understanding of urban social-ecological systems
  • Experience with quantitative analysis of biodiversity and socio-demographic data, including spatial analysis and the ability to work with and effectively synthesize large datasets
