POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Manager, Northwestern Ontario is responsible for providing operational leadership, business development, and financial oversight for Cormorant's Power Services operations throughout Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Director, Power Services, this role leads both the Technical Services and Powertel teams while driving regional growth and establishing Cormorant as the preferred provider of high-voltage electrical services.
The Regional Manager is responsible for the successful execution of existing service contracts, while expanding Cormorant's presence through new client relationships and recurring service opportunities. This role provides leadership across operations, safety, customer relationships, employee development, and regional business growth, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and oversee all Technical Services and Powertel operations throughout Northwestern Ontario Provide leadership to Supervisors, Team Leads, High Voltage Service Technicians, Power System Technicians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, Apprentices, and supporting field personnel Manage the successful execution of existing regional service contracts Develop and execute a regional business growth strategy to expand Cormorant's customer base throughout Northwestern Ontario Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, industrial clients, mining companies, renewable energy developers, municipalities, Indigenous communities, EPC contractors, and other key stakeholders Identify, pursue, and secure new maintenance, testing, commissioning, emergency response, and capital project opportunities Oversee regional operational planning, labour allocation, equipment utilization, scheduling, and resource management Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations Monitor regional financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, profitability, and operational metrics Support proposal development, estimating, contract negotiations, and client presentations Collaborate with Estimating, Engineering, Project Management, Business Development, Supply Chain, Fleet, Finance, Health & Safety, and Human Resources to ensure successful project execution Lead recruitment, workforce planning, employee development, succession planning, and apprenticeship growth within the region Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all regional operations Conduct regular field visits, safety observations, operational reviews, and performance discussions Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and client requirements Support emergency response activities and planned outages throughout Northwestern Ontario Represent Cormorant at client meetings, industry conferences, networking events, and community engagement activities Identify opportunities to expand regional service offerings and support long-term strategic growth initiatives Contribute to the continued success and growth of Cormorant through operational excellence, exceptional customer service, and strong regional leadership Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
CANDIDATE PROFILE: Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered Journeyperson Electrician, Powerline Technician, Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or Electrical Engineering Technologist designation is considered an asset Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience within utility, high-voltage, substation, industrial electrical, or power services environments Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing technical field teams and regional operations Demonstrated success managing client relationships and growing business within utility or industrial markets Strong understanding of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, substations, protection and control, commissioning, maintenance, testing, and construction Experience working with utilities, remote operations, and Indigenous communities is considered a strong asset Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, project profitability, and operational performance Proven ability to develop strategic business plans and execute regional growth initiatives Excellent leadership, coaching, mentoring, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage clients, employees, and executive leadership Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP, project management, or service management software is considered an asset Ability to manage multiple priorities while making sound operational and business decisions in a fast-paced environment Valid Class G Driver's License with the ability to travel extensively throughout Northwestern Ontario, including remote communities and project sites
