Our client, a litigation boutique with a focused and pragmatic approach to insurance defence, is seeking to add an Insurance Defence Associate to their team. As an Insurance Defence Associate, you will work closely with colleagues and mentors to provide passionate, committed and exceptional service. The successful candidate can expect significant growth potential within the firm, which encourages lawyers to develop their own practice and client base.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Drafting pleadings, motion materials, legal opinions, and arbitration/trial documents.Working with top Ontario Counsel in high-profile matters.
- Handling cutting-edge legal issues.
- Conducting coverage evaluationsNegotiating settlements.
- Drafting, reviewing, interpreting and negotiating agreements.
- Taking ownership of a diverse litigation portfolio with autonomy and support
Requirements:
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
- JD/LLB and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 3 to 6years of experience (more experience is welcomed!) in insurance law, insurance litigation, personal injury, and civil litigation.
- Dynamic, dedicated and determined.
- Understanding the client's needs.
- Proven client management skills.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills—both written and oral
- A willingness to engage in a team environment on challenging work with clients.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet demanding deadlines.
- Forward thinking and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Hard-working and eager to build their own practice within the firm
- In-house insurance industry experience is considered an asset.
