Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)
The IT Deployment Specialist will oversee mission-critical IT solutions integrated within a larger communication system supporting the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system. This role spans the creation and implementation of deployment plans, technical documentation, solution execution, field testing, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities:
- Support the deployment of IT solutions in both lab and field environments, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness.
- Hands-on implementation of Data Centers and all IT components of the Data Communication System (DCS).
- Create and maintain technical documentation and enforce strict configuration control of the DCS deployment artifacts.
- Collaborate with Software, Hardware, and IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification) teams for the resolution of test issues.
- Participate in technical discussions and present solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.
Non-Technical Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning and coordination of deployment and troubleshooting activities to meet project milestones and ensure resource availability.
- Manage technical interactions between company teams, site installation groups, and the customer.
- Optimize project workflows, identifying areas of improvement and implementing solutions to streamline project execution.
Key Requirements

University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in configuration, commissioning, and provisioning of Data Centers and IT systems.

Experience with VMWare defined data center configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Windows client and server operating system configuration and administration.
- Linux operating system configuration and administration.
- Microsoft Active Directory configuration and troubleshooting.

Familiarity with containerized platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and runtime infrastructure.

Expertise in IT automation solutions, including Bash, Shell, PowerShell scripting, and Ansible.

Solid understanding of network principles and technologies:
- Ethernet/IP-based networking, switching, and routing protocols.
- Redundancy and high-availability technologies.
- MPLS, VPN technologies, and RF networking (802.11, LTE, 4G, 5G, FluidMesh).
- Cybersecurity principles and tools.

Strong technical writing and communication skills, essential for producing accurate documentation and communicating across teams.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of rail signaling systems is an added advantage.
- Experience with virtualized datacenters using VMWare solutions (vCenter, vSAN).
- Industry-recognized IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, VMWare, CompTIA) are a strong asset.
