How You Will Contribute
- Manage products through the build and test process to ensure readiness for deployment to R&D.
- Coordinate kit sorting, verification, and distribution to relevant teams.
- Maintain project schedules, identifying and resolving roadblocks to keep Work in Process (WIP) on track.
- Provide daily reporting on product build status, including WIP progress, test outcomes, and failure repair updates.
- Utilize spreadsheet tracking tools to monitor and update the status of builds.
- Collaborate with the product PM to establish build schedules aligned with R&D timelines.
- Partner with the process team to design and refine the prototype build process, addressing issues and recommending improvements.
- Oversee the closeout of builds, including disposition of remaining materials and tracking prototype failure analyses.
The Must Haves
- 7+ years of experience in managing product build and test processes, ideally within an optical or hardware-focused environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules and track progress using tools like spreadsheets.
- Effective communication skills to interface with cross-functional teams, including OPS test engineering, OPS process, and R&D hardware teams.
- Ability to coordinate with contract workers and external suppliers (e.g., Sanmina) to ensure seamless prototype builds.
- Experience in tracking and resolving issues through systems like JIRA.
- Familiarity with failure analysis processes and reporting.
- Commitment to working on-site five days a week.
Nice to Haves
- Previous experience with Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) products or similar optical systems.
- Knowledge of prototype build processes and debugging techniques.
- Experience in working with subcontractors and managing external relationships effectively.
- Proficiency in handling incoming shipments and material distribution.
- Background in process improvement and feedback implementation.
- Familiarity with hardware testing and reporting methodologies.
- Experience in managing complex schedules and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
Pay Range
The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $88, 600 - $141, 500
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
