About the job
In this role, you will:
- participate in research projects, program design and delivery reviews, development and transfer of initiatives for the forest-based economy
- prepare and maintain project documentation, assess implications and impacts and draft correspondence in response to issues raised by various stakeholders
- coordinate stakeholder consultation and training, attend stakeholder meetings and forums to identify and discuss interests, concerns and issues
- provide leadership and expertise in support of policy and program reviews and development initiatives
What you bring to the team
Specialized knowledge:
- You have knowledge of public policy development processes and ability to interpret legislation.
- You have knowledge of Ontario's forest industry, its economic significance and emerging trends and competitiveness.
- You have knowledge of the principles and practices of forest management planning and silviculture systems, procedures and techniques.
Interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills:
- You have proven communication and computer skills to explain current policies and programs, prepare reports and make formal presentations in a clear and logical fashion.
- You have interpersonal skills to work as a team and create effective working relationships with stakeholders and personnel.
- You have well-developed liaison, facilitation and networking skills to consult and negotiate policy and program development.
Planning and organizational skills:
- You have proven project planning and management skills to support and contribute to the achievement of deliverables.
- You have organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate own work with others and meet tight deadlines.
Research, analytical and problem solving skills:
- You have demonstrated research, analytical and problem solving skills, as well as an understanding of data analysis procedures and statistical techniques to assess information, present findings and make recommendations.
