The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban/rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting for the casual, part-time positions of Facility & Program Monitor at the Elmvale District High School and Township facilities.

This position is responsible for assisting with programs, special events and bookings in Elmvale District High School (EDHS) and Township facilities. Specifically, this position monitors drop-in programs, activities, community bookings, and provides various support with special events. Overall, this position plays an integral role in the delivery of the Township’s recreation programs and community bookings and ensuring the safety and well-being of all program participants.

Position Responsibilities

Under the reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities and under the guidance and direction of the Supervisor, Programs, the position will:

  • Ensures the Elmvale District High School (EDHS) and Township facilities are opened and closed at the scheduled times, including performing a complete and thorough lock up and activation of facility alarm system.
  • Perform necessary janitorial duties as required, including but not limited to: maintenance and cleaning of community rooms, gym, change rooms, showers, lobby, bathrooms, hallways and observation areas.
  • Responsible for assisting with drop-in programs, gym related activities and special events held within the EDHS and Township Facilities.
  • Monitor all activities within the assigned facilities
  • Enforce all EDHS and Township facility policies and procedures in a consistent manner.
  • Provide assistance to all members in a safe and helpful manner on basic use of equipment in facility.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and provide additional assistance when requested.
  • Maintains facility grounds including litter removal.
  • Responds to customer needs in a courteous an efficient manner either in person or on the phone.
  • Provides information regarding services and fees.
  • Uses excellent interpersonal skills to ensure the orderly conduct of patrons using the facility.
  • Completes various tracking reports and documents to track participation in programs.
  • Completes periodic facility scans to ensure adherence to Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Responds to and/or assists with on-site emergencies, incidents and accidents, which may involve the provision of Standard First Aid, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or the completion of an accident/incident report, when required.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 education preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties.
  • Exceptional customer service skills for dealing with members of the public.
  • Experience in a facility maintenance environment.
  • Responsible self-starter with good time management skills, you are able to organize and complete all tasks with minimal supervision and within given time frames.
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR/AED certificate an asset.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of software including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software.
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate(s) must pass a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Rate of Pay

Compensation for this position is $24.85 (2025 rate) plus statutory holidays and vacation pay as per the Employment Standards Act.

Hours of Work

This position is a non-unionized casual, part-time position with variable work hours to a maximum of 24 hours per week. Must be available to weekdays, afternoons, late evenings, weekends and statutory holidays to support business demands. This position would work approximately 1-3 shifts per week up to a maximum of 8 hours per shift. This position will be for a fixed term for up to 10 months.
