Scope
The City of Surrey is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Water Meter Reader. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately reading water meters and recording consumption data across residential, commercial, and industrial properties within the municipality.
Responsibilities
Accurately read water meters across residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Record and document water consumption data.
Perform minor repairs as needed.
Use non power tools.
Conduct routine inspections of water meters and meter boxes.
Identify and report signs of damage, tampering, or malfunction.
Investigate irregular consumption patterns (e.g., unusually high or low usage).
Report potential leaks or issues that could lead to revenue loss.
Engage with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Respond to inquiries and address customer concerns related to water usage.
Support accurate billing and overall water utility operations.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12.
Relevant experience and training with water meters.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with a safe driving record.

Pay Grade: Schedule C
Hourly Rate: $29.89 (2024 Rates)
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
