Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Rate: $65,000 - $70,000 per annum

Summary:
The Events & Partnerships Specialist is a key member of Miller Waste’s Marketing & Communications team — responsible for delivering high-caliber, professionally managed events and partnerships that strengthen Miller Waste’s brand reputation, culture, and community presence.
This role supports both internal and external initiatives, including trade shows, corporate functions, community sponsorships, and staff engagement programs. Working closely with and reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Events & Partnerships Specialist ensures every event and partnership reflects Miller’s values, delivers measurable results, and contributes to the company’s broader marketing and communications strategy.
Responsibilities:
As an Events & Partnerships Specialist, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Event Planning & Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute corporate, industry, and community events, including trade shows, conferences, client appreciation events, and community activations.
- Oversee all aspects of event logistics: venue selection, vendor management, budgeting, scheduling, catering, AV setup, décor, signage, and on-site execution.
- Work in conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop event concepts, themes, and messaging that align with corporate goals and key campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Digital & Communications Specialist to ensure pre- and post-event promotion, photography, and social media coverage.
- Track and report event outcomes including attendance, engagement, leads, and ROI.
- Sponsorships & Partnerships
- Identify, evaluate, and manage sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships that align with Miller’s strategic priorities and sustainability goals.
- Work directly with the Marketing & Communications Manager to assess value, negotiate sponsorship deliverables, and ensure on-brand execution.
- Maintain relationships with partner organizations, municipalities, and associations.
- Track partnership commitments and prepare post-event and annual reports summarizing impact and ROI.
- Internal Events & Employee Engagement
- Coordinate internal engagement events such as Town Halls, holiday celebrations, Service Awards and community volunteer drives.
- Partner with Employee Experience & Engagement Coordinator, P&C, Operations, and the MarCom Manager to create programs that strengthen employee recognition and workplace culture.
- Partner with Digital and Communications Specialist, to manage internal communication for events on Miller Connect and Yodeck screens, ensuring timely and engaging updates.
- Partner with Digital and Communications Specialist, to capture and catalogue event photos, videos, and testimonials for storytelling and future marketing use.
- Communications & Collaboration
- Develop event communication materials including invitations, itineraries, digital signage, and thank-you messages.
- Collaborate with the MarCom Manager to ensure events support broader campaigns, launches, or corporate milestones.
- Maintain Miller’s event and sponsorship calendar in coordination with the MarCom team to ensure alignment across departments.
- Assist in preparing presentations, recaps, and executive reports highlighting event outcomes and alignment with business objectives.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain event budgets, vendor agreements, and expense tracking under the guidance of the Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Document event processes, key learnings, and best practices in Smartsheet and SharePoint for ongoing improvement.
- Support data collection for quarterly and annual MarCom performance reporting, including participation metrics and engagement trends.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional event planning experience in a corporate, agency, or B2B setting.
- Proven success managing trade shows, sponsorship activations, and corporate events end-to-end.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and vendor negotiation skills.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with comfort working cross-functionally.
- Creative, organized, and detail-oriented, with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Smartsheet, SharePoint, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite an asset.
- Willingness to travel to regional sites and events as required, about 50% Travel.
