Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Junior Environmental Site Assessor to work with our Environmental Site Investigation and Remediation practice in our Thunder Bay office. The Junior Environmental Site Assessor will complete field work and reporting to support site investigation and remediation projects across Ontario.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field work, including soil, groundwater and surface water sampling, working individually, as part of a team, and/or with contractors on project sites.
- Provide technical support on a variety of projects including soil, groundwater and surface water sampling and support in the office on client deliverables relating to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II ESAs, remediation programs, and hydrogeological investigations.
- Follow safety, quality, and project requirements, and travel to sites as needed for field work.
- Support project managers and coordinators with analyzing and interpreting field and analytical data, and report preparation in accordance with current provincial and federal requirement.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Energetic, team-oriented professional with a close attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and communicate effectively with technical and management personnel remotely
- Working knowledge of field sampling techniques is preferred
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while keeping health and safety a priority
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Experience with MS Office software suite (Word, Excel, O365 Applications etc.)
- Possess a valid G driver’s license and have access to a vehicle to complete the required field assignments
- Able to obtain federal reliability security clearance.
- Passion for working in an outdoor environment.
- Able to travel to remote locations via air or ground transportation and work up to 12 hours per day.
- Able to travel and mobilize to sites on minimal notice.
- Able to work up to 100% in the field during peak field season, including out-of-town work and overnight stays in a hotel or camp setting.
Education and Experience
- An associate's degree or a technical school diploma/certificate in environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related field.
- Experience working in outdoor environments.
- Eligibility for future P.Geo. or P.Eng. registration or would be considered an asset for this position
Previous co-op/internship in a role with related work experience would be considered an asset for this position
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
