Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Job Description

The City of Mission is seeking a creative and community-focused Events & Outreach Leader – Arts & Culture to join our Parks, Recreation & Culture team. This time-durated position is expected to continue until March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension and offers approximately 20 hours per week, including some evening and weekend work to accommodate various community events and programs.

In this role, you will help bring Mission’s vibrant arts and culture scene to life by coordinating a wide range of programs, events, and outreach initiatives. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, you will assist with planning, promoting, staffing, and evaluating arts and culture programs while fostering strong community engagement through both in-person and online platforms. You will also supervise and support instructors, contractors, event staff, artists, performers, and volunteers, ensuring the successful delivery of inclusive, high-quality events and experiences that celebrate creativity and community spirit.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an organized, energetic professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about connecting people through the arts. You bring excellent communication and leadership skills, sound judgment, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Your background includes completion of Grade 12 and a Certificate in Arts, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience), along with a minimum of three years’ experience in community events or arts and culture programming, including program planning and supervision. Strong digital marketing, social media, and public engagement skills are essential, as are valid Standard First Aid and CPR certifications and a valid BC driver’s license.

The current hourly rate of pay for the Events & Outreach Leader is $37.16 plus 4.4% in lieu of all benefits increasing to 12.4% upon completion of the probationary period.
