The Network Management System (NMS) Co-op will work closely with the team to support the design, development, and testing of Network and Element Management Software. This role provides hands-on experience with C++ development, the gNMI protocol, test automation front-end and backend, and lab-based validation activities across both the CNMS and EMS platforms.
This position is ideal for students interested in software engineering, network management, automation, and large‑scale system operations
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing and testing Network and Element Management Software
- Develop features for EMS components using C++
- Build and maintain test automation scripts
- Set up lab environments and run manual and automated tests and procedures
- Document results and update CNMS/EMS technical documentation
- Engage with the Agile team during planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups
- Present final project work and findings to the System Operations Software management team
Education And Experience Required
- University student towards a Bachelor’s degree in technical, computer science or engineering field
- Basic knowledge in satellite communication technologies
- Strong interests in NMS protocols and modelling languages such as: NETCONF/RESTCONF, gRPC/gNMI, gNOI, YANG, UML, OO design
- Good knowledge in Python 3, modern C++ (C++14 and beyond), Go, Debian, Docker, K8S, Azure
- Good communicator in a hybrid work environment
Decision Making and Supervision
- This role requires contributions as an individual and a team member
Working Conditions
- Hybrid workplace model with four days a week in the office
- The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada
