Tutor, Business

The School of Business invites applications for a tutor to engage in one-on-one and group tutorial with students in a variety of Business courses. The ability to tutor students in introductory Business Math as well as introductory and advanced accounting topics is a requirement. This is for the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 terms. Tutoring will be conducted in person and/or virtually using various technologies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid students to achieve required course outcomes in the subjects of Business Mathematics, Management Accounting 1 and 2, Financial Accounting and others
  • Use guiding questions to elicit critical thinking in students
  • Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students
  • Liaise with various instructors to coordinate teaching and learning

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both orally and in writing)
  • Strong competencies in working independently and as part of a team
  • sound abilities in the use of Virtual Communication technologies
  • Excellent time management

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably with an Accounting focus.

This is a casual (0%) position (up to 16 hours/week), commencing approximately October 9, 2025, and ending April 22, 2026**. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement Schedule G – Tutors. The salary range is $29.92 - $37.07 per hour and is based on qualifications and experience.**
