About the role
Technical Wind Turbine Specialist serves as a senior on-site technical SME, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of field operations and troubleshooting of complex wind turbine problems. Technical Wind Turbine Specialist will assist with solving current problems as well as look at ongoing issues within the wind to improve efficiency and availability. Theyshall know all aspects of safety in the above-mentioned activities. In this position you shall have knowledge and experience with Lock Out Tag Out, function and troubleshooting of renewable energy generating assets.
Please note: This position is based in Canada and is open to applicants who are legally authorized to work in Canada. RNWBL does not sponsor work visas for this role. Applicants who do not meet this eligibility requirement will not be considered.
Responsibilities
As the Technical Wind Turbine Specialist, you will:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose root cause remedy & repair of offline turbines to return to service.
- Identify turbine performance issues and develop plans to remedy during scheduled maintenance. Utilizing available data to make informed decisions.
- Ensure all equipment is operating as designed with only customer / engineering approved solutions, software, hardware, and wiring.
- Perform quality checks of work performed to ensure technicians and contractors are performing quality work.
- Assist with finding retrofits or optimizations that improve project performance for the customer
- Collaborate with the Site Leads, Technical Leads, and Field Manager to assist with planning of yearly maintenance schedules.
- Work with owners and site teams to develop a plan to ensure site performance with recommended improvements.
- Utilize CMMS to track work, inspections, schedules, and parts consumption.
- Assist site with reporting when necessary.
- Interface and communication effectively with site leaders, teams and customers.
- Maintain a strong safety mindset and support the EHS culture. Be a safety advocate and utilize stop work whenever necessary.
- Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise of currently recognized industry standards for site.
- Train and mentor developing technicians in electrical safety and proper maintenance of equipment.
Qualifications:
- On Site – Dufferin Wind Power – Shelburne, ON.
- Willing to travel up to twenty percent within Ontario operations and other travel as required.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in energy generation, and site leadership.
- GE Wind Turbine platform experience preferred.
- Experience in RCA of equipment failures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate test equipment needed for the project.
- Ability to lead projects, assign tasks, prioritize activities and interface with customers.
- Ability to understand manufactures’ literature to facilitate testing.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Good communication and problem-solving skills

Travel as needed for work or training.

Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 50 lbs.

Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

This role requires periodic work at heights, confined spaces, physical stamina, Applicants must adhere to site safety practices and perform in variable outdoor environments.
