What will you be doing!
- Facility Operations Transformation, Renewal, and Growth:
- Leading the strategic transformation of CNL’s S&T facility and laboratory footprint to support current and future mission needs.
- Evaluating and managing laboratory accommodation requests while identifying opportunities for space reduction, consolidation, and optimization aligned with CNL’s five‑ and ten‑year strategic plans.
- Leading the long‑term planning for renewal and growth of S&T assets in collaboration with the Capital Mission, focusing on Building, Structures & Labs, and Materials & Equipment asset groups.
- Advancing outcomes from the Thrive to 2035 study by translating long‑term infrastructure strategy into actionable renewal and growth plans.
- Facilitating S&T’s implementation of Asset Management Program requirements, including supporting the Asset Custodian in their role as Asset Manager.
- Development, Implementation, and Alignment of Infrastructure Initiatives:
- Supporting Senior S&T Management in developing and implementing a comprehensive Facility Management Framework.
- Integrating and aligning infrastructure‑related reporting systems to improve visibility, decision‑making, and governance.
- Planning and supporting the successful implementation of new S&T infrastructure initiatives in coordination with the S&T Management Team and broader CNL partners.
- Collaborating with the S&T Management Team and CNL Functional Program Managers to build strategic alignment between S&T priorities and enterprise‑wide objectives. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from a university of recognized standing.
- Experience
- 10-12 years of progressive leadership in a nuclear/business/R&D environment and/or technical project/process management experience.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated managerial experience complemented by experience in strategic planning, development and execution of strategic plans in a collaborative environment.
- Understanding of effective leadership concepts, skill sets, application and training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication ability with a variety of organizations and levels.
- Strong understanding of change management concepts and experience leading enterprise-wide change initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to use effective management principles in planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating operational processes and activities.
- Ability to foster relationships and lead cross-organizational collaborations to successfully execute projects.
- Ability to foster a team environment by understanding and managing group dynamics; ability to solicit differing points of view, ideas and opinions from team members to help form decisions or plans in achieving CNL objectives.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- Travel may be required, including international trips.
- The extent of duties sometimes requires extra hours.
- Frequently called upon to provide information and make presentations on short notice to both internal and external groups.
