Senior Art Director, Creative Strategy
Intertek is searching for a Senior Art Director, Creative Strategy to join our Catalyst team based from Waterloo, Ontario.
What you’ll do:
-
Elevate creative quality, visual storytelling, and strategic thinking across Catalyst initiatives.

Blend hands-on design execution with creative leadership.

Help shape compelling creative solutions and experiences, guide creative direction, and contribute to impactful client experiences.

Work closely with the Creative team, Client Services, and cross-functional partners to bring strong design expertise, conceptual thinking, and modern creative approaches to projects across learning, brand, print, digital, and experience design.

Combine strong visual design expertise with strategic thinking and collaborative problem solving.
Specific Responsibilities:

Lead the development of high-quality visual concepts, creative systems, and design approaches across client initiatives.

Translate business goals, learning objectives, and client needs into engaging and effective creative solutions.

Collaborate across the Creative team to strengthen creative quality and execution.
-
Partner with Client Services, Creative leadership, and cross-functional teams to shape strategic creative approaches and experiences.

Contribute to client conversations, presentations, and creative discussions.

Help facilitate collaborative working sessions, brainstorming discussions, and creative reviews.

Support the development of presentation materials, visual storytelling, and creative recommendations for client engagements.

Build trusted relationships through thoughtful communication, collaboration, and creative partnership.

Design polished and engaging visual assets across print and digital materials, branded content, presentations, campaigns, and interactive experiences.

Develop layouts, graphics, visual systems, and supporting assets aligned to project goals and brand standards.

Ensure creative output is user-centered, visually compelling, and aligned to accessibility and usability best practices.

Contribute directly to production work while balancing strategic responsibilities.

Stay informed on evolving design trends, creative technologies, AI-enabled workflows, and modern digital experiences.

Research and explore new approaches, tools, and creative opportunities that improve efficiency, scalability, and innovation.

Bring forward ideas that enhance team workflows, visual storytelling, and overall client value.

Support a culture of creativity, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Carry out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.
Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in graphic design, art direction, creative services, agency, or digital experience environments
- Portfolio demonstrating strong print and digital design work
- Experience participating in client-facing discussions, presentations, or creative workshops
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and modern design tools
- Experience designing across multiple formats including digital, presentation, branding, and interactive experiences
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy, storytelling, and user experience principles
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional creative and production teams
- Interest in emerging technologies, AI-supported workflows, and modern creative processes
- Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design

Salary & Benefits Information
The salary range for this position is $82,700 - 96,880 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, RRSP with company match, tuition reimbursement and more.
