Senior Project Manager, Ontario Line South Civil
About the role
Job Description Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.
At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.
Our Capital Projects Group workforce is made up of driven and dedicated professionals who care deeply about working together to deliver infrastructure and make a positive impact in our communities. Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.
The Ontario Line South Civil project is entering its fourth year of execution and is one of Canada’s most dynamic infrastructure undertakings. We are actively building at all seven stations—six of them underground—and preparing to start tunneling. One station is being constructed directly over the country’s busiest rail corridor, making this a career-defining challenge.
As Senior Project Manager, you will report to the Project Director and provide leadership for the South Civil scope. You will work closely with senior leaders at our construction partner, fostering collaboration and resolving strategic issues to ensure successful delivery of this transformative project.
What will I be doing?
- Report to the Project Director and lead the South Civil scope within the Ontario Line South Civil project.
- Work closely with senior leaders at our construction partner to build strong relationships and resolve high-level issues.
- Coordinate with functional teams (Commercial, Controls, Integration, Assurance, Technical) to align priorities and strategies.
- Oversee contract compliance for South Civil work, including schedule, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage stakeholder engagement with agencies, utilities, TTC, and City of Toronto officials.
- Lead consultant and internal teams assigned to South Civil to achieve milestones.
- Monitor progress and escalate risks to the Director as needed.
What skills and qualifications do I need?
- Demonstrated experience in capital project management, including 5+ years managing large, complex transit projects (tunneling, stations, elevated guideway).
- University degree in Engineering or Architecture; P.Eng or OAA registration is an asset.
- Strong leadership and project management skills to oversee cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of construction engineering, processes, value engineering, and P3 delivery models.
- Familiarity with Contract Law, OHSA, Environmental Assessment Act, and Professional Engineers Act.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
