About the Role:
This position provides effective coordination, implementation and delivery of facility operations within the Centre. Key elements of this position include the maintenance and refurbishment of the centre, equipment and grounds. The Operator will monitor, evaluate and make recommendations regarding current facility operation services in coordination with the General Manager.
Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
- As a working Coordinator 80% or more of the role will be dedicated to front line, reactive and restorative facility cleaning (locker rooms, common areas, program spaces).
- Create and manage schedule for staff and volunteers. Handle necessary payroll duties, ensuring staff and volunteers’ record time in the electronic database.
- Support and assist with hiring, training, coaching and supervising front line facility attendants.
- Build and maintain good interpersonal staff and volunteer relationships.
- Monitor stock of supplies (cleaning, paper products, member amenities, towels) and coordinate product orders to maintain appropriate inventories.
- Ensure the Facility Attendant cleaning carts and Cleaning Rooms are tidy and fully stocked.
- Acknowledge and greet members and participants.
- Enforce YMCA rules and polices.
- Answer questions and support members in need of assistance.
Health and Safety
- Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection and Emergency Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure safe, proper use of equipment and chemicals according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation.
Administrative Duties
- Complete administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years’ experience with cleaning in a multi-use facility, preferably a recreation centre or similar setting.
- Previous experience with inventory management.
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR -C.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with management of staff schedules.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
- Flexibility required - work evenings, weekends and on-call.
- Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
- Able to speak and write easily and accurately.
