About the role

Summary: We are seeking a motivated and talented Machine Learning Engineer Intern to join our Corporate Tax and Trade product engineering team and help accelerate our AI initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle. You will work alongside senior engineers and data scientists on high-impact projects, from building robust data infrastructure on the cloud to developing and deploying cutting-edge machine learning models. If you are passionate about turning data into intelligent action, we want to hear from you! 🚀

What does TR Product Engineering do?

At TR Product Engineering, we're on the front lines of innovation. Our mission is to rapidly build and ship impactful AI and ML features that our customers use every day. We thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative culture where we learn directly from our users alongside our partners in Product and UX. If you're excited by the idea of shaping products through continuous experimentation and direct customer feedback, come join our journey.

About the Role:

  • Build Data Pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure). You'll handle everything from data ingestion and cleaning to transformation for ML applications.
  • Develop ML Models: Preprocess data, engineer features, and train, evaluate, and iterate on various machine learning models (e.g., classification, regression, clustering) to solve real business problems.
  • Create Proofs of Concept (PoCs): Rapidly prototype and test new ideas. You'll conduct experiments and build PoCs to validate the feasibility of new AI/ML approaches before full-scale implementation.
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to understand requirements, share insights, and contribute to our overall AI strategy.
  • Research and Learn: Stay current with the latest advancements in machine learning, MLOps, and cloud technologies, and apply them to your projects.

About You: Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with its core data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
  • Solid theoretical understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex, unstructured data.
  • A curious and collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of LLMs and having executed projects using GenAI and agents.

Preferred (Bonus Points!):

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and its data/ML services (e.g., S3, EC2, SageMaker, Lambda; GCS, BigQuery, Vertex AI).
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control with Git.
  • Exposure to containerization technologies like Docker.

What You'll Gain:

  • Real-World Impact: Work on projects that directly contribute to our products and business goals.
  • Mentorship: Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals in the AI/ML field.
  • Hands-On Experience: Gain practical skills in cloud computing, MLOps, and the full model development lifecycle.
  • Innovative Culture: Be part of a forward-thinking team that encourages creativity and continuous learning.

If you are excited about this opportunity, meet most of the above criteria, and are eager to learn, we want to hear from you!
