YOUR IMPACT
OpenText is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development, and management of OpenText's commercial networks. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing a dynamic global network in a 24x7 support model. This position requires a strong understanding of all aspects of a highly converged network and the ability to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve very complex problems in a timely and professional manner. This role entails strong communications and reporting experience with a focus on meeting the needs of OpenText global customers.
WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
- Business requirements analysis as related to aspects of unified communications, networking, and network security
- Design and implementation of data communications architecture, including integration of applications, data, and other network infrastructure.
- Identify operational weaknesses within the existing network infrastructure and present execution plans to overcome those concerns in a timely fashion while still making the most cost-efficient use of resources.
- Complete all projects assigned and exhaust all possible resources to provide results on time, within specifications, and on budget.
- Actively monitor and react to real-time network conditions and make recommendations on improving monitoring and reporting.
- Document IT activities such as incidents and system changes with regular participation in change control activities
- Actively engage with team members to support troubleshooting efforts and facilitate knowledge transfer, promoting continuous learning and team-wide expertise.
- Leverage both proven and innovative technology approaches to solve challenging business problems
- Must have a positive attitude while participating in after-hours and weekend network maintenance.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of, and a strong commitment to, documenting and tracking work in accordance with established ITIL processes.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related; equivalent related technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 8+ years’ experience with a variety of networking technologies, protocols, equipment, concepts, and architecture.
- Experience with WAN, Knowledge of service provider MPLS, and Internet VPN.
- Experience with configuration and maintenance of network equipment from multiple vendors, including Cisco.
- Experience in maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting IPSEC VPN, DMVPN WAN Technologies
- Experience implementing Cisco Nexus layer 2 switching infrastructure; spine and leaf topology desirable.
- Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills. Usage of Wireshark packet captures.
- A solid understanding of IP networking, including addressing, behavior, and performance, including routing protocols BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Highly available datacenter network architecture and design
- Highly available wide area networking architecture and design
- Experience with IP network security technologies, including network firewalls, application proxies, and intrusion detection and prevention, and network access control.
- Experience with enterprise network management systems and protocols such as SNMP.
- Knowledge and experience deploying and maintaining network QoS on local and wide area networks.
- Experience with applying network and application acceleration and network load balancing to services preferred.
- Ability to program in an administrative scripting language.
