Part-Time, Temporary (6 months)

Paralegal – Labour Relations

24 hours/week (flexibility required)

Waterloo, Ontario

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal – Labour Relations to join our legal team. This role is essential in supporting Legal Counsel with collective bargaining, legal research, document preparation, and dispute resolution processes. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining compliance with legal standards and collective agreements while facilitating effective communication across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Bargaining Preparation

  • Conduct internal and external research to support bargaining efforts.
  • Collaborate with departments to gather and verify negotiation data.
  • Maintain organized records and databases of bargaining information.

Collective Agreement Review & Document Preparation

  • Review collective agreements and draft amendments.
  • Support negotiations by preparing draft proposals.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and stakeholder alignment.

Mediation, Arbitration & Labour Relations Board Proceedings

  • Assist in preparing case files and legal documents.

  • Provide legal research to inform responses to specific grievance and arbitration files.

  • Coordinate logistics for hearings and proceedings.

Requirements:

Education & Licensing

  • College Diploma in Paralegal Studies.
  • Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of paralegal experience in employment or labour relations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and active listening skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and work ethic.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Time management and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of alternative dispute resolution and labour relations preferred.
