JOB DESCRIPTION
AAA Canada is looking for someone who will apply engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment pertaining to the modification of aircraft. Develops 3D solid models and drawings utilizing engineering CAD (Computer Aided Design), Product Data Management (PDM), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. The engineer will report to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor or Systems Engineering Lead / Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop, read, and interpret solid models, design detailing, drawings, and Bill of Materials for assigned components.
- Perform and/or coordinate model analysis to verify design meets customer requirements.
- Perform drawings check for completeness, correctness, and drafting standard compliance.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to the maintenance crew.
- Present design work in design reviews.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
- Occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in aviation.
- Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (SOLIDWORKS preferred) and use of Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Experienced with modification of aircraft systems / components, preliminary design reviews (PDR) and critical design reviews (CDR).
- Ability to perform work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Ability to lead, coach and/or mentor subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
- Possesses solid working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
- Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while working independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to solve complex problems and think analytically.
- Moderate level of expertise in design of mechanical components and/or systems.
- Leadership skills.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
