Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis

Position Details: Full Time Permanent, Hybrid, 4 days in office and 1 day work from home (Fridays)

Location: North York, Ontario

Reporting to the Director of Corporate FP&A, the Senior Financial Analyst will be planning, forecasting and developing departmental budgets across the organization, developing and maintaining financial models to support close collaboration with senior leaders and coordinating long-term planning cycles to meet organizational requirements. The incumbent is responsible for financial analyses & projections, drive cost-out opportunities, and communicate with department leads on a monthly basis. In this role you will seek to understand business needs, have excellent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Main Responsibilities:

Financial Forecasting, Planning and Analysis

  • Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes for the organization, ensuring accurate and comprehensive financial models are developed to support strategic decision-making.
  • Build financial models, bridges and consolidation templates to support executive leadership reviews of monthly forecasts and annual plans.
  • Manage the departmental budgeting process, collaborating with key stakeholders to establish realistic financial targets and tracking performance against budgets throughout the fiscal year.
  • Participate in month end close activities by analyzing expense accounts, investigating variances and providing concise variance explanations to support review of consolidated financial results.
  • Lead financial analysis and risk assessments, identifying potential opportunities and challenges to recommend appropriate actions to optimize financial performance and mitigate risk.
  • Monitor, forecast, analyze and report on in-year variances to budget; advising on accruals, and year-end adjustments.
  • Actively seek opportunities for process improvement, cost saving opportunities & escalate high risk activity.

Strategic Financial Decision Support

  • Work with cross-functional teams to prepare analysis on the financial impact of strategic initiatives, business opportunities, and potential risk.
  • Prepare financial models and business cases for various business decisions.
  • Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics or Accounting with enrollment in or completion of a professional designation (CPA, CFA or MBA) preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in and financial planning & analysis, investment banking or corporate development.
  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong Business Acumen with ability to drive data-driven decision making.
  • Previous experience working with all levels of an organization including presenting to c-suite and senior level leaders.
  • Experience working with accounting software Sage300 & Vena preferred but not required.
  • Advanced skills in Excel; working knowledge of macros, SQL, PowerBI or Power Query an asset.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written and comprehension) and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
