Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Lead of Planning and Business Development and in close collaboration with the Facilities leadership team, the Projects Manager will be responsible for leading all phases of renovation and capital planning projects, from initiation to close-out phases.

The role includes expert advisory to senior leadership for project definition, including scope, estimated costs, timeline, and key stakeholders.

Throughout the project lifecycle, the Project Manager will act as the Hospitals’ representative to liaise with consulting professional and contractors on capital projects.

The Project Manager will facilitate consultations with operational leadership and staff and ensure proactive communication to achieve successful project outcomes and deliverables.

The project manager will be the main contact for all Hospital’s departments, external consultants, authorities having jurisdiction, hospital personnel, and third parties for capital projects during the planning and implementation of HGH's projects.

The Project Manager will also provide space utilization and optimization advice for all Hospital departments, in close collaboration with the Facilities department.

What we are looking for

Education:

  • Baccalaureate in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Design or related discipline and/or Project management

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification

Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years

  • Significant related experience, in a health care facility capital construction projects an asset

  • Experience as the Owner’s representative

  • Experience with move management

  • Experience with operational readiness

  • Familiar with project close out phase

  • Space planning an asset

Skills:

  • General knowledge of MOH Capital Planning Guidelines, legislation and regulation covering Public Hospitals Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Worker’s Compensation Act, WHMIS and other related acts / laws as required.
  • General knowledge of project management, design, construction and contract administration as applied to health care facilities.
  • Ability to evaluate needs and recommend options
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both official languages
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Project management
  • Knowledge of procurement and tendering process
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Power Point, Adobe, Sharepoint
