About The Role:
What You Will Do:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Resident Centered Care: Promotes service excellence through ensuring that the facility is maintained in a manner that ensures all residents have safe, comfortable, reliable, and functional accommodations. - Repairs, maintains, or replaces switches, receptacles, electrical outlets, ballasts, and fixtures as needed. - Repairs, maintains or replaces fixtures, appliances, and equipment using maintenance manuals and wiring diagrams. - Repairs, maintains, or replaces electrical motors as needed. - Repairs or maintains appliances including electric stoves, power tools, fans, etc. - Disconnects electrical appliances for repair or replacement as needed. - Cleans and services magnetic starters and relays according to predetermined schedules. - Installs electrical power service to areas or equipment as needed. - Maintains and repairs electrical system and wiring. - Performs all work in accordance with approved electrical codes. - Responds to emergency situations in accordance with established policies and procedures. - Maintains a positive relationship with residents, families, and employees. - Responds to routine inquiries from residents, families, and staff regarding maintenance issues. 2. Documentation: Accurate, comprehensive and timely documentation of resident care assessment, interventions and outcomes in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures. - Completes issued work orders - Inspects incoming equipment and logs any pertinent information. - Regularly inspects and checks related equipment for performance. - Tests all electrical installations as per City of Calgary requirements, codes and records test data. - Maintains files on inspections and registers new installations with the City of Calgary. - Ensures that all electrical devices and equipment coming into the facility have CSA or equivalent approval. - Ensures, in conjunction with the fire marshal and external agencies, that Fire alarm system testing is completed and that the fire alarm complies with all codes. - Maintains an inventory of all tools, parts and equipment, and advises when replacement or new equipment is required. 3. Safety: Contributes to a safe environment for residents, the team and self by understanding and adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times. 4. Team Work: Cares for and works cooperatively with others as an effective team member. - Maintains continual communication with teams with regards to maintenance issues and requests. - Liaises with contractors regarding repairs. - Arranges for external servicing when required. - Provides contractors with all pertinent information that may assist in contract completion. What You Bring: QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education - Grade 12 Education or recognized equivalent. 2. Experience - 3-5 years’ experience as an Electrician in the maintenance and repair field preferably in a hospital or large facility environment. 3. Professional Registration - Journeyman Electrician’s Certification, Master’s preferred. - Fire Alarm Certification 4. Additional Skills - Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment. - Must demonstrate an acceptable level of reading, writing, and comprehension of English language skills. - Valid Class 5 driver’s license. - Knowledge of blue print and specifications reading and implementation. - Proven ability to organize and prioritize various demands - Must have a strong working knowledge of fire codes, building codes, and general safety regulations.
