Senior Quality Associate

Position Overview
This is a newly created position within the organization.
Reporting to the QA Supervisor, the Senior Quality Associate plays a key role in supporting and maintaining Quality Assurance systems in compliance with GPP, GACP, and GMP requirements. This role also acts as the Alternate QA Person (AQAP), providing oversight and guidance across departments to ensure regulatory compliance and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as AQAP and support the QA Supervisor in daily quality oversight
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality staff and cross-functional teams
- Maintain and continuously improve quality systems, including SOPs, Work Instructions, and records
- Manage supplier quality and ensure compliance of raw materials
- Maintain receiving specifications and inspections within internal systems
- Support equipment validation and lifecycle activities (DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Conduct internal audits, investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation
- Review and support approval of Batch Production Records (BPRs)
- Support environmental monitoring, sanitation validation, and pest control programs
- Assist with sampling, testing, and product release activities
- Support regulatory inspections and third-party audits
- Prepare and maintain quality reports (monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance role (pharmaceutical or regulated industry preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Experience with HACCP and Preventative Control Plans (PCPs) is an asset
- Experience with validation/qualification activities is an asset
- Previous experience with a Licensed Producer (LP) is considered an asset
- Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
Working Conditions
- GMP manufacturing environment with required PPE (gowning, mask, gloves, etc.)
- Exposure to moderate noise, strong odours, and variable temperatures
- Physical requirements may include lifting up to 25 kg, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks
- May require occasional evening or weekend work based on operational needs
