Wastewater Co-op (4 or 8 months)
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to assist the Wastewater division from May to August 2026 or May to December 2026. Reporting to the Manager of Wastewater, this position will assist other licensed operators with daily operation and maintenance of the Towns Class IV Wastewater Treatment System and Class III Wastewater Collection System.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with the Operational staff assisting them their daily duties.
- Assist staff with preventive maintenance program.
- Plant and equipment maintenance
- Painting buildings/machinery at the WPCP and pumping stations.
- Building/grounds maintenance
- Assist operators with lab duties (gathering samples).
- Assist staff with correction of problems at our pumping stations.
- Assist with CCTV inspections of towns collection system.
- Assist with all work associated with lateral repairs including cleaning and clearing blockages.
- Assist with sewer flushing program working with operational staff on the Vactor truck.
- Preform manhole inspections with operational staff in the collection system.
- Participate in training programs and courses as provided.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary Engineering Technology/Technician program (or equivalent).
- Must have an MOE Operator in Training license in wastewater collection and wastewater treatment by April 27, 2026.
- Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, project/time management, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Valid Ontario class “G” Drivers license in good standing.
- Own or willing to purchase safety footwear as a pre-condition of employment.
- Able to submit a successful Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check as a pre-condition of employment.
The hourly rate for this position is $21.18 (2026 rates) per hour.
