Position Title: HACCP Coordinator
Location: Edmonton, AB, T6B 3N9
Job Type: Full Time Permanent
Position Summary:
To write food safety policy and programs and to train staff to ensure food safety regulations are followed throughout the branch; to act as liaison with government agencies and third-party auditors; to perform internal audits, shelf-life testing and data trending; to purchase food items as required.
Key Responsibilities:
HACCP Programs
- Oversee all pre-requisite programs (premises, transportation, personnel, operations, etc.), including training of staff
- Write and oversee HACCP plans (raw ground, raw cut and seasonal re-pack)
- Verification of written paperwork and on-site observations for each FSEP pre-requisite bullet
- Reassessment of all pre-requisite programs, and all HACCP plans
- Manage all recall and traceability programs and activities
- Lead Food Security Crisis Plan mock recall
- Perform risk assessments
- Act as liaison to lab, pest control, chemical suppliers
- Perform validations on HACCP plans and pre-requisites
Administration & Management
- Participate in regular HACCP Management meetings (quarterly or more often, present updated HACCP information to team)
- Participate in regular inventory counts
Other
- Produce product spec sheets and create product labels
- Monitor alarm and temperature systems
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food safety quality production.
- Experience in Food Safety/HACCP/Food Quality.
- HACCP, QMP, Foods Safety and Quality Systems Management and Auditing
- Attending yearly HACCP Conferences, Attending CFIA industry information meetings, Courses for BRC
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or similar fields (HACCP, Food Technology, Microbiology), a combination of experience and education will also be considered.
- Ability to train employees, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Willingness to work with raw meat products and in a cold environment.
- Training will be provided.
