About the role
Position Summary The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, and therapeutic investigations/interventions. The duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings.
Physician Assistants/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard-of-practice recordings of all patient encounters, these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Qualifications Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Prior experience preferred
Physician Assistants: Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to the College and eligible for national certification
Clinical Assistants: Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad Must have at least one of the following: Clinical Assistant Assessment NAC OSCE LMCC
Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes

Indigenous Understanding Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families

Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems
