About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
The Addiction Medicine Lead will be responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and
evaluation of a scalable regional Addiction Medicine Consultation model. The Lead will also be responsible to support
the development and implementation of the Substance Use Disorders Integrated Pathway. The role provides
advanced clinical expertise, operational coordination, and technical guidance to the Addiction Medicine Consult
Service (AMCS) team and regional partners, and supports quality improvement, development of virtual service
delivery, and integration with hospital and community services to improve access, continuity of care, and patient
outcomes. The position functions under the general supervision of the Manager, Ambulatory Mental Health &
CAMHU.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
* Current unencumbered registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
* Minimum 5 years clinical experience
* Recent clinical experience in mental health, addictions, or related acute/community care setting is preferred
* Recent experience in program development, quality improvement, or project coordination is preferred
* Current BLS certification
Skills/Abilities:
* Demonstrated strong leadership and clinical consultation skills
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, manage multiple priorities, and support service implementation
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills with interprofessional teams and external partners
* Ability to analyze service data and support program evaluation
* Knowledge of health system structure, care transitions, and community resources across northwestern Ontario
* Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
Assets:
* Certification or specialized training in addictions medicine or substance use treatment
* Experience with virtual care or telemedicine service delivery
* Experience working with rural, remote, or Indigenous communities
* Experience with Ontario Health or regional program initiatives
* Experience in leadership or formal lead roles
Salary Range: $49.500 to 61.870
