Job Summary

The Senior Associate, Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management is responsible for executing transactions, optimizing funding decisions, managing the beta component of the Fund, and overseeing diversified, multi-strategy alpha programs. This role supports the Fund’s portfolio management with the goal of generating annual value-add targets within defined risk limits, while ensuring appropriate liquidity and efficient balance sheet usage across all portfolios.

What you will do:

  • Develop and maintain analytical tools in Python to inform trading across all asset classes.
  • Assist in managing, monitoring, and executing trades across Stock Loan, Repo, Delta One, and Futures Funding desks, ensuring efficient funding, optimal collateral usage, and alignment with portfolio and risk management objectives.
  • Contribute to construction, idea generation, and trade execution for the short-term liquidity portfolio.
  • Research, recommend, and execute trading strategies in fixed income and derivatives markets across multiple currencies.
  • Monitor, review, and refine risk reporting and trade processing configurations.
  • Develop original and innovative research and analysis of trading markets and opportunities.
  • Develop computational methods for managing and analyzing financial and alternative data sets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external counterparties, focusing on new ideas, trends, and innovations.
  • Collaborate with ISG on application development and implementation across Capital Markets.
  • Advise senior leadership on strategic priorities and contribute to annual business planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Virtual Technology Group within Capital Markets to prioritize and communicate technology needs.
  • Optimize liquidity and balance sheet usage by consolidating high-quality assets and leveraging global relationships.
  • Assist FX hedging operations and mobilize domestic liquidity to meet foreign currency needs.
  • Oversee short-term and funded strategies portfolio to enhance yield and maintain flexible funding.
  • Engage in alpha-generating activities using multi-product and multi-asset approaches.
  • Invest in and leverage advanced information systems and technology platforms for operational efficiency.
  • Monitor liquidity risk framework and model worst-case scenarios for portfolio leverage.
  • Negotiate and manage legal documentation to expand global counterparty relationships and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate across operations, legal, and technology functions to streamline fund activity and support innovation.
  • Assist in portfolio bookrunning, performance attribution, and building system redundancy for compliance.

What you will bring:

  • Completed university undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a related role within Capital Markets.
  • Experience with risk reporting/measurement, front office quant/trading desk is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of G7 fixed income government spread product markets and portfolio risk management.
  • Familiarity with cross-currency basis, XVA, and portfolio construction concepts.
  • Coding proficiency in R, Python, and/or C++; experience with SQL.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with users, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Professionalism, integrity, strong quantitative skills, and ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, team player, high performer, innovative mindset.
  • Knowledge in valuation models, risk models, and empirical finance theory is an asset.
  • A solid understanding of front-, middle-, and back-office processes.
  • Demonstrated history of HOOPP's values: Accountable Compassionate, and Trustworthy.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Completion of or enrollment in the CFA Program is preferred.
