Are you ready to be at the forefront of Radio-Canada’s digital revolution? Are you passionate about automation, cloud infrastructure and the DevOps culture?
Digital Media’s Back Office DevOps team is looking for a developer to come on board. We are a key technology pillar that supports all of Radio-Canada’s digital products and services. We manage a large-scale infrastructure, primarily on Azure, and we are at the heart of the action, ensuring the availability, performance and security of our platforms.
As a member of our team, you will have an engaging hybrid role. You will not only contribute to the engineering and automation of our systems but also serve as a crucial partner for our development teams. You will provide them with the right tools and support to accelerate the delivery of value to our audiences.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Manage, maintain and optimize the large-scale Azure cloud infrastructure that powers Digital Media.
- Develop and improve automated deployment pipelines (CI/CD) using Azure DevOps to ensure smooth and reliable production releases.
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform and Terraspace to ensure our environments are resilient and maintainable.
- Act as a service team by managing the service desk, handling requests from in-house teams and providing necessary support.
- Actively monitor our systems to check for performance, security and cost, and suggest proactive solutions to any issues that arise.
- Serve as a DevOps culture ambassador, promoting best practices and helping development teams implement them.
- Work closely with various departments on cross-functional issues like cloud governance, system security (DevSecOps) and cost management (FinOps).
Minimum Requirements We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Education and Experience: University degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent experience, combined with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems, especially Linux.
- Strong proficiency with a cloud ecosystem, ideally Microsoft Azure.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Solid experience with automation using Terraform.
- Proficiency with Git.
- In-depth knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) techniques and hands-on experience with YAML pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar).
- Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Networking and Infrastructure: In-depth knowledge of infrastructure configurations, network protocols, network routing, firewalls, load balancing, content delivery (CDN) and infrastructure monitoring in a high-availability environment.
- Developer Mindset: You prioritize automating manual tasks and solving problems with code.
- Experience with at least one language like Python, Go or Node, in addition to a scripting language like Bash or PowerShell.
- Languages: Solid command of spoken and written French; functional spoken and written English in a professional context.
Assets (Nice-to-Have Skills)
- Experience with a framework for Terraform, such as Terraspace.
- Experience with Windows system administration.
- Databases and Caching: Practical knowledge of technologies such as MongoDB (Atlas), Elasticsearch, Azure SQL and Redis.
- Development Ecosystem: Familiarity with development environments using C#, Node.js or TypeScript to better understand the needs of the teams you will be supporting.
- Cloud Governance: Knowledge of governance, security (DevSecOps) and cost management (FinOps) in a cloud environment.
- Methodology: Strong interest in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Personal Qualities: Independence and analytical mind, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Perks You Can Look Forward To
- Flexible work schedules, allowing you to prioritize yourself, your family and your work.
- Work-from-home opportunities (hybrid or full-time).
- Competitive total rewards package.
- Opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology.
- Opportunities for continued learning and professional development.
- Pair programming and mentorship opportunities.
- A creative and dynamic work environment, where your ideas and contributions can be heard, valued and respected.
Please note this is a 12-month contract position, renewable annually. This regular position is not a consulting assignment but a long-term opportunity with attractive CBC/Radio-Canada employee benefits.
