The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental health and substance use challenges. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each individual, providing patient-centered, comprehensive, coordinated care.

CAMH is seeking one (1) full-time, contract (12 months) Research Assistant 1 to support the Toronto Adolescent and Youth (TAY) Cohort Study and related sub-studies. The TAY Cohort Study follows 1,500 youth to determine who is at highest risk of developing psychosis and the relationship between risk and functional outcomes. Reporting to the Research Manager and working closely with the Study Investigators, the Research Assistant 1 will be primarily responsible providing administrative support for the TAY study and related sub-studies. Duties include scheduling research visits with participants, organization of research documents, supporting data entry, screening and recruiting participants, and working with databases ensuring that accuracy and data quality is maintained. Assisting with preparing PowerPoint presentations, proofreading documents, attending research meetings, organizing the study calendar, supporting with filing and reconciling documents, and other administrative duties.

This position may require some weekend and evening shifts as needed and requires onsite work at both 80 Workman Way and 250 College Street, with travel between CAMH sites.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have Secondary School and/or Specialty Courses. Experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting an asset. The successful candidate will be detail oriented with demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to produce high quality and accurate work while meeting program deadlines and requirements. Experience with Electronic Data Capture Systems such as REDCap is an asset. The Research Assistant 1 must have proficiency with Microsoft Office. Other preferred skills include the ability to work in a team environment as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

They should excel in multi-tasking, producing high-quality work in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a proactive mindset, with problem solving skills and adaptability. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
