Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Assessment and Permitting team within the Environmental Services practice working in the Markham, Ottawa, Waterloo or London office. As an Environmental Planner you will work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of projects and provide support to our dynamic team to gain relevant work experience, help expand your skillset and build your career. You will assist in developing environmental documentation and reports, performing research and environmental analyses for infrastructure planning and design projects, preparing and coordinating public, stakeholder, agency and Indigenous community engagement materials and maintaining consultation records.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying environmental issues and providing overall support to environmental and engineering staff.
- Maintain effective communications and liaise with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to collect information and help to identify and respond to or address issues.
- Interpret and summarize input from technical specialists, subconsultants and regulators.
- Interact with Indigenous communities, clients, regulatory agencies, the public and other stakeholders.
- Support the coordination and writing of proposals for new projects.
- Assist in preparing and coordinating public, regulatory agency and Indigenous community consultation programs and maintaining thorough correspondence records
- Follow environmental and consultation processes and document in accordance with applicable environmental legislation.
- Support the preparation of environmental documentation and/or reports, meeting materials, meeting minutes and presentations within short timelines, as required.
- Attend virtual and/or in-person public and client meetings.
- Participate in team and independent based work.
- Support and participate in Stantec’s Safer Together culture, prioritizing the health and safety of our employees.
- Travel as required (20%) for site visits, client meetings and public consultation events.

Education and Experience
- A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in Environmental Studies, Planning or a related field is required.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Must have good driving record and valid driver's license.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
